Details of Assessment & Targets

At Rockfield, our assessment framework is designed to provide a comprehensive and continuous evaluation of students’ academic progress through a balanced approach, incorporating both formative and summative assessments.

Formative Assessment (40% of Overall Performance)

Formative assessments are conducted throughout the academic year, offering an ongoing evaluation of students’ learning. This continuous assessment includes several key components:

Class Participation

Regular engagement in online discussions, forums, and live sessions.

Homework and Classwork

Timely submission and quality of assignments and daily classwork.

Attendance

Consistent attendance in online classes, showing commitment to the course.

Quizzes

Frequent short quizzes to assess understanding of recent topics.

Projects

Involvement in small-scale projects that apply course concepts in practical scenarios.

Monthly Assessments

Monthly assessments are conducted at the end of each month to review the course material covered, ensuring students remain aligned with the curriculum.

Together, these components form the formative assessment score, which accounts for 40% of the overall performance. This method not only tracks progress but also highlights areas where students may need additional support, enabling timely and effective interventions.

Summative Assessment (60% of Overall Performance)

Summative assessments take place at the end of each term or academic year and are designed to evaluate the comprehensive knowledge and skills students have acquired. This category includes:

  • Mid-Term Exams:

Comprehensive evaluations that test a wide range of knowledge and skills covered throughout the course.

  • Final Exams:

Comprehensive exams covering all material taught during the term.

Summative assessments contribute 60% to the overall performance marks. They provide a clear measure of students’ understanding and mastery of the course
