- After completing their IGCSE and IAL (International Advanced Levels), students’ grades are submitted to the IBCC Inter Board Coordination Commission (IBCC)
- The Government of Pakistan issues an equivalency certificate, which is required for students planning to pursue higher education within Pakistan’s local education system.
Pearson qualifications are widely recognized by universities worldwide, making them a strong foundation for higher education in Pakistan and abroad
Academic Practices at Rockford Cambridge School (RCS)
To ensure a smooth academic transition and effective exam preparation, RCS follows a three-year structured program
Grade 9: No Pearson examinations; students take internal school assessments to build a solid academic base.
Grade 10: Students sit for Islamiyat, Pakistan Studies, and Urdu, examined by CAIE.
Grade 11: Students appear for all remaining subject examinations, conducted by Pearson
- This phased examination approach helps students effectively manage their studies and achieve better results in their final exams.
- Examinations and Assessment Structure Students are assessed through a combination of:
- Multiple Choice Questions
- Written Examinations
- Alternative to Practical and Coursework Assessments (for science subjects)
The grading criteria emphasize conceptual understanding, critical thinking, and practical application, moving beyond rote memorization
Fee Structure and Examination Costs
Examination Fee: Approximately PKR 32,000 per subject (subject to currency fluctuations and Pearson fee adjustments).
- Fees may vary depending on:
- Number of subjects chosen
- Exchange rate of Pakistani Rupee (PKR) to British Pound (£)
Why Choose the Pearson IGCSE Program at RCS?
The Pearson IGCSE curriculum is highly regarded for its international recognition and academic rigor, making it an ideal choice for students aiming for higher education abroad.
- Recognized by top universities in the UK, USA, Canada, and Australia.
- Accepted by Ivy League universities and Russell Group institutions during their admission process.
- Only examination board offering modular assessments, allowing students to take exams in parts rather than all at once
- Encourages critical thinking, analytical skills, and independent learning.
- Offers flexibility in subject selection, allowing students to tailor their education based on their future aspirations.
One of the key advantages of the Pearson IGCSE program is its modular examination system, which offers students the flexibility to progress at their own pace.
Subject Breakdown into Units
Each subject in the Pearson Edexcel IGCSE curriculum is divided into multiple units, allowing students to focus on specific areas of study rather than tackling the entire syllabus in a single, high stakes examination. For example, in Mathematics, the syllabus is structured into various units, such as:
- Algebra
- Geometry
- Trigonometry
- Statistics and Probability
- Number Patterns
Each exam will target a collection of units. This modular approach provides greater flexibility and reduces the overall academic burden, ensuring that students can manage their learning more effectively.
Component-Based Retakes for Score Improvement
If a student scores low in one specific component, they do not need to retake the entire subject. Instead, they only need to pay for the particular component they wish to improve and sit for that section again. This system ensures that students have more control over their final grades, as they can focus on weaker areas without affecting their stronger performances. By offering a structured yet flexible examination pathway, the Pearson IGCSE program at Rockford Cambridge School ensures that students can achieve their best possible results while developing a deeper understanding of their subjects.
